Mark Knopfler has made three of his most famous tracks available to PureSolo, remastered with the lead guitar part missing. The tracks are ‘Sultans of Swing’ ‘Calling Elvis’ and ‘Speedway at Nazareth’. Guitarists who want to enter the competition can download the tracks and record their own guitar over the top, essentially filling the shoes of Mark!

The winner will get to meet Mark Knopfler at his private studios in London for a one-to-one mentoring session, a prize that money can’t buy! The winner will receive a free return (economy) flight and 2 night stay in a 5* London hotel.

I'm working in the promotion of a new music website and TV show and I'm trying spread the word a little with UK acts who could benefit- as it's kicking off with a really good opportunity for new musicians: You can win a week recording at Abbey Road, with an engineer and a day of mastering. Artists need to join the site, then join the 'Fast Track' and upload three songs to be rated by the community. The band with the most points gets the session.

It's called BOBCOM, it's important to remember it's not just a site: it's a new approach to the music industry that bi-passes the old models. There will be live a TV show (BOBCOM sessions) in a few months with bands being able to get air time on national, terrestrial TV just through being rated on the site, and eventually a major prime time TV project. Musicians will be able to meet, collaborate, and sell their music at the most favourable deal available in music.

PLEASE NOTE: BOBCOM are 'soft launching' the website. So there's no advertising or marketing going on yet. Bands entering the Fast Track to win time at Abbey Road stand a very very good chance of winning.

Just think it would be great to have an All Star Band made from muso's on the site. As it would be born out of this site, it could be a unaminous doff of the cap to Sir NWB sir for his generosity of such a marvellous and FREE website and for bringing together the community of NW venues and 'artistes'. Obviously carrying a 'banner' of NWB!! great for anyone wanting a bit of a change do a bit of networking, get some interesting covers together, drums bass 2 guitars and vox ?

Or is it only me who like to play around ?:w00t:

In principal. Any 5 persons who's must be an NWB member meet, rehearse ,mither venue's N S E & W and do very occsional gig under such a title..
